As desperate commuters climb through bus windows to hitch a ride or are forced to walk for kilometres, the taxi strike is also affecting healthcare, schooling and other services in parts of the Western Cape.
The school - which caters to over 400 pupils living with disabilities said the lack of teaching staff able to teach sign language has made it difficult for them to communicate with pupils who cannot speak, or those who have difficulties with verbal communication.
The Noluthando Sheltered Employment Trust (NSET) facility has opened at the Noluthando School for Special Needs in Khayelitsha.
