Organizers weren’t sure what to expect for turnout after several years without holding the event, but they were still ready to serve hundreds a free turkey dinner on Christmas Day at a new venue in Winslow.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., those in attendance enjoyed a hot turkey dinner, followed by dessert and coffee. The event also included raffle drawings, music, stockings for the children, carriage rides and a visit from Santa Claus.
Annual Central Maine Family Christmas Dinner in Waterville canceled over pandemic, fundraising trouble
The annual dinner, which has served hundreds of people a hot Christmas Day meal for free and fellowship, will not happen this year amid the pandemic but organizers hope to return in 2021.

WATERVILLE After 14-straight years of offering a free holiday meal and fellowship to people and families across the region, the landmark Central Maine Family Christmas Dinner won’t be happening this year because of the coronavirus pandemic and fundraising challenges.
