Pedestrian killed in Phoenix hit-and-run near Camelback Rd., 8th St.

A 55-year-old male pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run Sunday night in north Phoenix near Camelback Road and North Eighth Street, according to the Phoenix Police Department. The man was trying to cross midblock on Camelback Road near Eighth Street at around 11:20 p.m. on Sunday when an unknown silver vehicle struck him, said Sgt. Margaret Cox, a department spokesperson. The vehicle fled eastbound on Camelback Road near Eighth Street.  Phoenix fire personnel took the victim to a hospital where he died. Police did not name the victim.
