Bonner County resident Ron Korn has announced he is seeking the Bonner County Board of Commissioners District 3 seat. Korn, who identifies as a Christian, Republican, and conservative, has lived in the county for over 25 years.
Next weekend, Bonner County residents will be able to take a traditional cold plunge in the Pack River — with a twist.
Northside's Eric Parker, a lieutenant with the fire district, retired this past fall; Chief Brad Mitton's last day is Sunday, Dec. 31; and longtime volunteer, captain, and fire commissioner Ray Yaw retires in mid-January. An open-house-style retirement celebration for Mitton, Parker, and Yaw is being held today from 4-7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. All are invited to attend and pay tribute to the trio.
While the fire academy has been a staple at North Idaho College's Workforce Training Center for 13 years, the Dec. 12 fire academy graduation marked the first time the course had been held in Bonner County. Firefighters from both Boundary and Bonner County took part, including those volunteering at South Boundary Fire Department.
