Nova Scotia reports new high of 175 daily cases of COVID-19

Nova Scotia reported 175 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday after provincial health labs conducted 11,506 tests the day before.
The majority of the new cases, 149, were in the central health zone, which has been identified as having community spread. 
There were 13 cases in the eastern zone, nine in the western zone and four in the northern zone. According to a release from the province, these areas are being monitored for signs of community spread.  ....

Nova Scotia reverses stance on private liquor stores, which now can operate like NSLC outlets during lockdown

As customers lined up outside Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation stores, they were being turned away at one private wine store.
Bishops Cellar was open, but only for deliveries or curbside pickup as new rules imposed on private sellers prevented customers from entering stores.
Why is a private wine store (or) a brewery considered different than an NSLC store? said Matt Rogers the owner of Bishops Cellar.
Garrison Brewery pivoted to curbside and online orders  on Thursday, but its owner knows not all Nova Scotia businesses can.
We would like to see this reviewed and backtracked because it has real-world implications for small independent producers, said Brian Titus, who is also the president of Craft Brewers Association of Nova Scotia. ....

NSLC stores reduce operating hours


The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation is temporarily reducing its hours of operation.
It says the move is to allow for enhancing cleaning as the province responds to a third wave of COVID-19.
As of today, stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays.
The new hours are expected to be in effect until Monday, May 10.
As per government regulations, NSLCs are already operating at 25 per cent capacity, so lineups outside stores are likely.
The NSLC is asking customers to do the following:
wearing a mask,
paying with cards, avoiding the use of cash whenever possible, and ....
