McCoy CBD firm gets green light from UK food watchdog


Chanelle McCoy, the former Dragons’ Den investor, has received a boost at the Cannabidiol (CBD) venture she co-founded.
According to McCoy, Pureis Ultra Pure CBD has received a validated novel food application from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) in the UK. This means the company is now in full assessment for a novel food licence.
McCoy said the company had invested around £1.5m in its product over the last 18 months. It had also completed clinical studies on the CBD product.
The Food Standards Agency in the UK has given CBD companies a deadline of March 31, 2021, to have a validated Novel Food Licence application submitted. Pureis said CBD brands without a validated application would be removed from the UK market. ....
