i think it is discouraging people. i think it is increasing the number of minorities we have in the universities and outcomes we see, not having a positive effect. we look at the numbers and nsf provides numbers with number of minorities within certain stem fields and we find the numbers have increased slightly, we don t see they are being hired into the industry and fields coming out of the universities. outcome of students is not getting better, this is some way of universities trying to build up virtue signalling by number of minority students without concern if the students are successful once they leave universities. that is the opposite of what we should be thinking about when teaching students. our goal is to provide them a foundation for a successful career in the future and ....
