Osool Pushes Disaster Recovery Infrastructure to Cloud, Reaps Cost-Saving Benefits
Nutanix, Inc. announced that Osool, an independent, fully-fledged asset management company based in Bahrain, has successfully deployed Nutanix’ Xi Leap - a flexible, cloud-based DR-as-a-Service (DRaaS) solution. The service, that meets the industry standard compliance attestations expected for a financial institution’s own compliance standards, has reduced the company’s DR cost by about 65% and also helped Osool meet mandatory recovery point objective (RPO) and recovery time objective (RTO) requirements.
As part of Osool’s digital transformation initiative, it began using Nutanix a few years back as a replacement for its existing server infrastructure. Osool saw Nutanix’s hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) as a major stepping-stone on its journey to cloud, but also realized that it would have to change its approach toward data protection and disaster recovery to match its new ....

Infrastructure overhaul helped Berkeley meet pandemic challenges -- GCN

Before the pandemic hit last year, there were no city employees in Berkeley, Calif., who teleworked. Almost overnight, about 700 needed to find ways to connect from home to city systems.
The key to enabling that was an infrastructure modernization project that had recently wrapped up, said Berkeley’s IT Director Savita Chaudhary. Berkeley replaced an eight-year-old system with Nutanix’s hyperconverged platform.
“We needed to have a strong infrastructure in place because our infrastructure was pretty old,” Chaudhary said. The new system is scalable and easy to stand up, so “our application deployment time was reduced significantly,” she said. ....
