Violence concluded by-elections was planned by politicians, says Matiang'i


It shameful that some people can plan to divide because of elections. We will not allow them to cross the country in an attempt to divide the country and cause disharmony.
On March 4, police arrested Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei and MPs Didmas Barasa (Kimilili), Wilson Logo (Chesumei) and Nelson Koech (Belgut constituency) over allegedly being in possession of illegal firearms and causing violence in the Kabuchai by-elections.
The leaders denied the claims saying they were monitoring the progress of the by-election.
On Friday, March 5, Matiangi said all politicians involved in Political violence will have their firearm licences cancelled.
On Saturday, March 6, the firearm Licensing Board revoked licenses of Kimilili’s Didimus Barasa and that of his Mt Elgon counterpart Fred Kapondi. The two were ordered to surrender their firearms within 24 hours. ....
