A labyrinth inspired from one in France can be found at New Harmony. According to Visit New Harmony, built and maintained by the Robert Lee Blaffer Foundation, this outdoor site offers an opportunity to walk and meditate on an "ancient" single path labyrinth. The pattern of this labyrinth duplicates the original at Chartres Cathedral, built in the 12th century near Paris, France. In the middle of Providence there is a coal miner statue that pays homage to the town's history with coal mining. The park the statue is in was built in 1990 to pay homage to the town's mining history. In front of the statue are plaques that indicate a time capsule to be opened in 2040, the piece "Portrait of a Coal Miner," a donor list and commemorations to the town's 100th and 150th anniversaries. A series of angel statues provide a place of comfort for families dealing with the loss of a child, and one of those statues is in Albion. Near the Edwards County courthouse is an angel statue that is one of many throughout the country. According to Jessica Gwaltney with the Albion Area Chamber, this Angel of Hope statue was erected around the mid-2000s after the death of a local high school student. Years of labor resulted in a garden of shrines made out of geodes. According to the Dubois County Visitors Center and Tourism Commission, one priest took 12 years to create a garden of shrines. Officials say these shrines are constructed completely of geodes, a type of rock found in parts of Indiana and Kentucky, and have been used as a decorative element in the construction of landscaping and homes since the 19th century. In Troy, Indiana there is a statue of Christ that overlooks the Ohio River. According to Troy's website and library materials from 1957, Dr. and Mrs. N.A. James of Tell City erected a statue of Christ on the highest point of their land overlooking the Ohio River at their summer home at Troy. The website says Herbert Jogerst, with some sources indicating his last name is written as Joergst or Jogorat, sculptured the statue.
