Apna Dal (Sonelal), a key ally of the ruling BJP, will intensify its demand for a caste-based census at its foundation program in Ayodhya next month. The party has been advocating for a caste-based census since its inception, in line with its founder Sonelal Patel s desire for resource allocation based on population percentage. Party president Anupriya Patel, who herself belongs to the OBC community, will also call for an increase in the income cap for the OBC creamy layer. Activist Manoj Jarange has threatened to begin a fast unto death protest on October 25 if the Maharashtra government does not grant reservation to the Maratha community by Tuesday. Jarange stated that political leaders would not be allowed to enter villages until the reservation demand is met.
