Duterte gov't to highlight legacy on May 30-31 summit

MANILA -The Duterte administration will be thanking the support of everyone and remind Filipinos of President Rodrigo Duterte's signature "Tapang at Malasakit" (courage and compassion) brand of leadership before the end of his term on June 30. The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), through the Office of the Global Media and Public Affairs (OGMPA), will showcase a summary of the Duterte administration's achievements through the Duterte Legacy Summit from May 30 to 31 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City, the PCOO said in a media release. ARTA pushes for zero backlog policy

Belgica(File photo) MANILA - The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) is pushing for a zero backlog policy in national government agencies (NGAs), local government units (LGUs), and government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) ensuring that all transactions with public offices have been delivered within the prescribed period. During the virtual press briefing of the Office of the Global Media and Public Affairs Wednesday, ARTA director general Jeremiah Belgica reminded NGAs and LGUs to follow the "3-7-20" rule under the Republic Act 11032, or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Delivery of Government Services, or the EODB law. Under the 3-7-20 rule, all government agencies shall process simple transactions within three working days, seven working days for complex transactions, and 20 days for highly technical transactions. Gov't targets to narrow unemployment rate near pre-Covid level

File photo MANILA - The government aims to bring down the unemployment rate close to pre-pandemic level of around 5 to 5.5 percent this year, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez said Tuesday. In a virtual presser of the Presidential Communications Operations Office-Office of the Global Media and Public Affairs, Lopez said the unemployment rate slowed down to 6.5 percent last November from a peak of 17.6 percent in April 2020. "Our goal in 2022 is to further increase our job generation efforts to close down (the) unemployment rate nearer to pre-pandemic levels," he said. Last year, the Task Force Group on Economic Recovery-National Employment Recovery Strategy (TGER-NERS) was created to address job shedding across different industries due to adverse impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
