Zandile Christmas Mafe briefly appeared at the Western Cape High Court on Friday.
Zandile Christmas Mafe is expected to appear in the Western Cape High Court on Friday for allegeldy setting fire to Parliament, but will he pitch up in the dock?
Enoch Godongwana announced during the Mid-Term Budget that R2 billion will be set aside for the restoration of the parliamentary buildings.
Funds to restore parliament buildings gutted by fire earlier this year will be paid directly to the legislature and not to the department of public works and infrastructure [DPWI] which manages the parliamentary precinct and provides infrastructure support to the institution.
Parliament has abandoned its earlier plan to use modular units on the parliamentary precinct, opting to rather use the money that it would have cost towards the estimated R2.2 billion required to repair the buildings razed in the 2 January fire.
