Dear Editor, I am extremely concerned about the safety of those of us who have had to be given the Astra Zenica vaccine, even though it has been found to be less effective than the Pfizer vaccine and to be almost ineffective in giving any protection against the South African variant. In the seven days to March 7, Popley saw the highest number of new cases, at 14 - up five from the previous week. More than a third of people in Basingstoke and Deane have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, figures reveal. NHS data shows 52,691 people had received a vaccine jab by February 28 ­– equating to 37% of those aged 16 and over, according to the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics. Of those vaccinated, 30,627 were aged 65 or over – 99% of the age group. It means 22,064 people aged between 16 and 64 have received a first dose of the vaccine.
