It was at this point that I became intrigued by FIRE, or the financial independence/retire early movement. I felt like these people truly understood what life was about. FIRE folks start by figuring out how much they need to save to live yearly during retirement. Then, they invest, earn, and aggressively save their way to hit that number at an accelerated pace. I discovered FIRE during my debt-repayment journey, and I knew that I was years away from being able to hit my FIRE number due to my debt. So, I decided to do something different. I decided to embrace Slow FIRE.
