The Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a meeting and luncheon Thursday, and neighbors hope to get answers about how their homes will be affected.
Engineers say they hope construction for Exit 9 and a connector road to Alabama 150 and South Shades Crest Road should take 18-24 months and be completed by the end of 2027.
The city is moving forward with a new interstate interchange just west of South Shades Crest Road, as well as an arts center and an estimated $20 million worth of improvements at the Hoover Met.
Trees coming down in the Old Section Road are prompted neighbors to believe the city is already starting construction but aren't being transparent about it.
The council intends to use the money to help pay for a new I-459 interchange, an arts center and $20 million in Hoover Met Stadium improvements.
