The bye week. It s what often separates the best teams from the worst teams, as coaches continue to prepare for the upcoming battles even though the players all have the week off from practice. Nearly half of the league is on that proverbial bye this week, a few teams of which are already on their second bye of the season.
For any of you that have been reading my musings here at ArenaFan for the past several years, you know that I m not afraid to take shots at anyone that I feel is breaking what the league stands for. Whether we re talking about the AFL, the af2, or this arena football like substance formerly known as the AF1, the principals have always been the same. This is a game that was built for the fans.
As I was taping the podcast as a guest on the AFL Roundtable last night, I was discussing the idea of putting Arena Football teams in cities where the AFL has already failed, and in some cases failed miserably. We saw it with all of the franchises in the Carolinas. We saw it with a number of franchises in Texas.
