Get the gavel to have better leverage, what do you say? do you fund the government through september of next year or do you somehow do some negotiation on the omnibus? we should be funding the government. i don t know what the democrat on the other side have been doing. they have had months and months, years. they don t put forward regular order appropriations. it s bad for our military. it s bad for government, it s bad for the american people if we are not actually funding this government and making sure that we have a budget to move forward. so, i don t want to say continuing resolution. i also don t want to be funding 87,000 irs agents when we have got an open border that needs to be protected. so we have got to get our spending in order here and whether it happens before or after this congress or the next, we re going to make sure that we re appropriating things in a proper fashion. bret: congresswoman ann wagner. we appreciate your time. thank you. bret: up next, new reac ....

Still have not agreed to how much money to spend next year. they are about $25 billion apart, that obviously is a significant amount of money, for the government that s a little bit less significant of an amount of money but they are still working through those differences. that leaves them really with two choices at the end of the day, once they get past friday they have about another week to negotiate if they pass that short-term spending bill, then they can either keep funding levels at what they were last year, that is less desirable from the white house because of inflation, because of other factors, they want more flexibility in terms of how they deal with spending next year. they re going to continue to try and pass an omnibus, that of course would set new funding levels for the next year, but there is a long, long way to go and the fact they still can t even agree on how much money to spend tells you that this is a difficult task ahead. jim and erica. certainly s lauren fox, ....

Who s to say they get another one in a divided government for the next two years. sahil, we ve got about three weeks left of this lame-duck session, keeping the government open probably number one in priority. but the electoral count act, we ve heard so much about this in the wake of january 6th, there seemed to be momentum particularly on the senate side. where do things stand? is a deal going to be to get done before republicans take control of the house? it s an important question and i m glad you asked. i spent late last week trying to figure that out. i asked chuck schumer, who said the first job is to get an omnibus. i spoke to amy klobucar, and she told me they re considering attaching that election bill to a government funding bill, to an am now bus package for the simple reason it takes about a week to pass anything in senate without consent. they don t have a lot of time, so they see this bill as the last train leaving the station ....

A big bill called an omnibus and it makes it very difficult to get negotiations done and it bumps up against a government shutdown deadline. it happens every year and it is not the way that it is supposed to work. and i venture to guess it will take a lot to convince them to get their act together and to do it. and that is a collective problem. it is a democratic and republican problem, no matter who is in charge. but angus king was on cnn this morning and asked about the other possibility here. lauren was getting to it a little bit in the show. the possibility of kicking the can down the road for a year. which we have seen before. let me play what he said about it. the worst outcome would be shutdown. and if that is the option. but a one year continuing resolution could be terrible. we couldn t fund ukraine, we couldn t fund any of the new initiatives. and if this gets pushed off, then the funding debate will have in a a very different ....
