Monkeypox virus in semen? WHO probes if it's a sexually transmitted disease
The World Health Organization (WHO) is investigating allegations that the monkeypox virus is present in the semen of patients, with the goal of determining if the disease may be transferred sexually, according to a WHO official. However, the CDC emphasised that the infection is primarily spread through intimate interpersonal contact. Many of the reported monkeypox cases in the current outbreak, which is mostly centred in Europe, are between sexual partners who have had such close contact.
