With projected national shortages of 63,720 registered nurses in 2030 and 141,580 licensed practical nurses in 2035, a new report finds one-third of nurses plan to leave the profession in the next two years. More than half claim insufficient staffing is the worst part of the profession and the leading cause of their well-being struggles and poor mental health (71 percent). Nurses reported experiencing symptoms of anxiety (46 percent), insomnia (35 percent), and depression (32 percent). This national survey has helped to identify innovative ways to improve quality of work and life for current and the next generation of nurses.
