A Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt has barred the factional Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, who is loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from going into the state assembly complex until the burnt chamber is fully renovated by the state government.
It also stopped lawmakers loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from using the assembly premises following the directive of the governor, Siminalayi Fubara, that the facility was under renovation.
The Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt and presided over by Justice D.M. Danagogo, has restrained Martin Amaewhule, loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, from interfering and disrupting the activities of Rivers State House of Assembly Speaker, Edison Ehie, from carrying out his legislative functions. Ehie is loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who is at loggerheads with Wike, his godfather and immediate former governor.
The Federal High Court, Abuja has adjourned for ruling, the preliminary objection filed by Prof. Mike Ozekhome, SAN, on behalf of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, against the suit instituted against him (Atiku) by the Minister of State, for Labour and Employment, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN. The court was presided over by Justice James Omotosho, in Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/84/2023, and the adjournment was on Tuesday May 3, 3023.
