A TEMPORARY postal service has been introduced in Ormsgill. Post Office services have now been restored to Ormsgill, with a temporary Outreach service which will be operated by the Postmaster for Millom. It comes after a long period of uncertainty over the future of the areas postal service when the postmaster of its Middlefield hub resigned in March last year, forcing the post office to temporarily close. The new temporary service has been put in place while a permanent solution is sought. The new mobile service commenced with a small operation last Friday, with hopes for a bigger reception this week as word spreads amongst residents.
