COVID-19: Taylor County adds 6 deaths Thursday; recoveries top 10,000


Taylor County now has recorded 232 COVID-related deaths.
The county also reported that the number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 surpassed 10,000 to 10,070 (4,605 polymerase chain reaction cases and 5,465 antigen cases). 
The deceased are: 
Woman in her 50s with preexisting conditions
Man in his 60s with unknown medical predisposition
Woman in her 40s with unknown medical predisposition
Woman in her 70s with preexisting conditions
Woman in her 60s with unknown medical predisposition
The average age of the deceased since the first reported death is 75.
Of the 184 new cases, 66 are based on PCR tests and 118 on antigen tests. 
Active cases total 2,530 (1108 PCR cases and 1,422 antigen cases). A week ago on Jan. 7, the number of active cases was 2,066. ....

COVID-19: Taylor County adds 3 deaths, 163 cases Thursday


The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District on Thursday reported three deaths linked to COVID-19, 163 new cases and 103 recoveries.
The deceased – one man in his 60s and two men in their 80s – bring the total number of county deaths to 210. The three men had preexisting health conditions, officials said. 
The 163 new cases are based on 59 polymerase chain reaction tests and 104 antigen tests. 
Active cases total 2,066 (830 PCR cases and 1,236 antigen cases). A week ago on Dec. 31, combined active cases numbered 2,198. 
The number of COVID-19 inpatients at Abilene facilities is 129, which is eight fewer than reported Wednesday. The inpatients include 38 out-of-county residents. 
Hendrick Health System on Wednesday reported the COVID-19 inpatients number for Abilene s trauma service area was 23.54% of the area s total hospital beds, up from its Tuesday report of 22.07% and the highest mark to date.  ....

COVID-19: Taylor County add 2 deaths Wednesday, hitting 50 in December


Taylor now has reached 167 deaths.
The deceased are two men: one in his 70s with preexisting conditions and the other in his 60s with unknown medical predisposition, officials reported. The average age of all deceased is 77.
The county has reported 50 COVID-19-linked deaths in December, compared to 41 in November and 16 in October. 
The 125 new cases are based on 65 polymerase chain reaction tests and 60 antigen tests. 
Active cases number 2,440 (943 PCR cases and 1,497 antigen cases), which is 177 fewer than the total of 2,617 reported a week ago on Dec. 9.  
COVID-19 inpatients at Abilene hospital declined by two to 100, compared to Tuesday s update of 102, city officials reported. ....
