Sleet and freezing rain late Monday night into Tuesday morning could weigh down utility lines and branches leading to power outages and icy roads.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Freezing rain and ice are big concerns for residents across the Tri-State area Tuesday morning, especially north and west of New York City. In places like Morristown, New Jersey the temperature was hovering right around the freezing mark as rain fell. Statewide there were reports of close to 10,000 power outages, most of those in Warren County. North and west of New York City crews worked through the night to treat roads. Eyewitness News was there are they loaded salt and sand into a dozen trucks in Passaic County, where they will begin by salting the higher elevations firs...

The New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway and Atlantic City Expressway are exempt from the travel restrictions.

The restrictions don't apply to the Garden State Parkway, New Jersey Turnpike and Atlantic City Expressway. South Jersey interstates are also open to all traffic.
