Shell-A-Bration returns this Friday to Crescent Park
The Texas General Land Office (GLO) has awarded $10 million for projects across nine coastal counties through its Coastal Management Program (CMP) grant cycle 27.
The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana's annual Shell-A-Bration will feature the Lost Bayou Ramblers, food, including oysters, local brews, a silent auction and a raffle. The community event is dedicated to raising awareness of and engagement in the Oyster Shell Recycling Program, through which CRCL collects shells from New Orleans restaurants to build oyster reefs and restore shoreline habitat. It is the only program of its kind in Louisiana.
“CRCL continues to evolve and grow, and our board of directors plays a key role in helping us do the same as we work to unite Louisiana residents to achieve a thriving, sustainable coast for all,” said Kim Reyher, executive director of CRCL. “Adding fresh voices, unique expertise and different perspectives will help us get there.”
