Check back each Friday for a new tip.) When Bryan Thrift won the Toyota Texas Bass Classic on Lake Conroe, he knew by the final day of competition that the fish had been beaten up. As the event came to a close, he had a limit in the boat but needed a kicker. He didn’t pick up a big jig or a monster swimbait. Instead, he allowed a shaky-head to do his damage. Fifteen minutes before he had to weigh in, he pulled up on a brush pile near the ramp, flicked in his worm and landed a 6-pounder that put him over the top to win by 4 pounds.

Schmitt Sets Record For Toyota Series Wins Monday, February 8, 2021 Photo: MLF/Jody White Bryan Schmitt broke a three-way tie with Randy Haynes and Koby Kreiger with his latest Toyota Series victory. By MLF Communications Staff Maryland pro Bryan Schmitt brought four bass to the scale Saturday weighing 18-02 – including a 9-02 kicker – to win the Lake Toho Southern Toyota Series event in Flordia. Schmitt weighed in 14 bass over three days of competition totaling 66-10, besting 2nd-place angler Mikey Keyso of North Port, Florida, by more than 8 pounds. For his victory, Schmitt earned the top payout of $51,500. The victory was the sixth career Toyota Series win for Schmitt and moved him to No. 1 on the all-time list. Schmitt had been in a three-way tie at five with Randy Haynes and Koby Kreiger.
