The Vancouver International Film Festival announced this year’s Black History Month programme, taking place at the VIFF Centre throughout February. Black History Month at VIFF offers audiences an opportunity to engage with Black stories from a range of Black voices from around the world, as well as the richness of international nuanced and empowered Black filmmaking.

Whalen is a cocreator, executive producer, writer, and costar of the show, which has won three Canadian Comedy Awards. She is also a consulting producer on the new one-hour series Pretty Hard Cases. The event is presented by the Pacific Screenwriting Program and will be moderated by B.C. screenwriter Sonja Bennett. It takes place at 4 pm Pacific time and you can find more info here.
