SC orders PECHS to remove encroachments from nullah

Supreme Court has ordered authorities to remove all the encroachments from the Pakistan Employees Cooperative Housing Society (PECHS) Nullah and restore the green-belt in the area to its original condition. The court was hearing on Wednesday the case regarding shops being built on the PECHS Nullah. During the hearing at SC Karachi Registry, the court said that nothing can be constructed within 20-feet of the banks of a nullah. No construction can be allowed on greenbelts, observes SC

A K-Electric grid station built on a green belt in Karachi’s Pakistan Employees Cooperative Housing Society (PECHS) has come to the notice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. On Tuesday, Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed took suo motu notice and remarked that K-Electric can't be allowed to construct the grid station on a greenbelt. The residents of Karachi’s PECHS went to the Supreme Court against the K-Electric grid station. They pleaded that the PECHS administration unlawfully allowed K-Electric to build the grid station on a green belt. SAMAA - KMC starts demolishing illegal bungalows on Karachi's Hill Park land

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has started demolishing four bungalows that were illegally constructed on the Hill Park land, KMC officials said Tuesday. The operation is being led by KMC Anti-Encroachment Department Senior Director Bashir Siddiqui. Officials of the East district administration, police, Rangers and city wardens were also present at the site on Tuesday. The Hill Park land belongs to the KMC. Previously, it has thrice planned the demolition of bungalows no. 38/G/1, 38/G/1-A, 38/G/1-B and 38/G/1-C, but couldn't go ahead with it.
