As summer approaches and their gathering continues to swell, agitating farmers have begun installing submersible pumps on patches of land along the Bahadurgarh and Rohtak bypass. ....
LUDHIANA: Members of the Muslim community from Malerkotla town got a big water-proof tent installed at Tikri border for protesting farmers. They have also been running a langar sewa there. Dr Naseer Akhter, member of the group, Sikh Muslim Sanjhan, which installed the tent, said, “We are thirty members, all of whom are Muslims from Malerkotla. For 40 days, we have been running the langar at Singhu border. We would send zarda chawal (sweet, cooked rice) to various places along the border. Around 15 to 20 days ago, we thought one can sleep hungry but it is difficult to sleep in such cold. So we decided to install a water-proof tent.” ....
Ravinder Saini Jhajjar, January 6 Unlike to other days, Wednesday evening was busy for Jaspal Singh, a farmer from Fazilka in Punjab, camping at Pakoda Chowk at Tikri-Bahadurgarh border as he was gearing up for ‘Tractor March’ to be taken out on the call given by the Sankyukt Kisan Morcha on Thursday. He tied a flag on his tractor, filled the fuel tank with diesel and checked the music system installed on the tractor so as to be ready for participating in the first cavalcade of 400 tractors that will leave for the Singhu border on Thursday morning. Jaspal started helping other fellow farmers too after finishing his preparations. ....
Jhajjar, December 27 A lawyer from Fazilka died after allegedly consuming some poisonous substance at the Tikri border, a site of the ongoing farmers’ protests, sources said on Sunday -at least the third such incident to be reported in the last two weeks. Sources said the victim, Amarjit Singh from Jalalabad, was immediately taken to Rohtak’s Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, where he died. A purported suicide note found in his pocket was addressed to Modi, The Dictator . The note said he was offering himself as sacrifice in support of the protests. The typewritten letter is dated December 18 and reportedly bears the advocate’s signature. ....
