Gujarat hospitals to join WHO's 'Solidarity' clinical trial

The trial, to be conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) at hospitals in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot, will compare the effectiveness of four drugs and standard care on coronavirus patients, principal secretary (health) Jayanti Ravi told reporters on Monday.

PM Modi to lay foundation stone of AIIMS Rajkot today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday laid the foundation stone of the upcoming campus of All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Rajkot in Gujarat through video conferencing. The campus is coming up on an area of over 201 acres near Khandheri village on the outskirts of Rajkot city at a cost of Rs 1,195 crore.
The academic session of the first batch of AIIMS Rajkot, comprising 50 MBBS students, started on December 21 from its temporary campus in Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Medical College.
It was inaugurated by CM Rupani with Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and Union Minister of State for Health Ashwin Chaubey joining the event through video conference.

The campus is coming up on an area of over 201 acres near Khandheri village on the outskirts of Rajkot city at a cost of Rs 1,195 crore.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone virtually of AIIMS Rajkot on December 31. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel etc are expected to be present at the venue," Deputy Director, AIIMS Rajkot, Shramdeep Sinha said.

Rajkot: The academic session for the first batch of AIIMS Rajkot commenced on Monday with 50 students from its the temporary campus at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Medical College attached to the Rajkot Civil Hospital here.
AIIMS Jodhpur is currently acting as mentor institute for AIIMS Rajkot.
Union health minister Harsh Vardhan and chief minister Vijay Rupani virtually inaugurated the session at a function held at Rajkot’s Pramukhswami Auditorium.
Addressing the gathering through video conference from New Delhi, Vardhan said AIIMS Rajkot falls under phase 6 of Pradhan Mantri Swastha Suraksha Yojana.
