A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Dublin over two years ago.

The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission seized items from a Dublin Garda station last week as part of the probe into whether gardaí were aware of threats to the life of gun victim Patrick 'Pappy' Lyons before his death. The 44-year-old father-of-two was shot dead in Belclare Terrace in Poppintree in a targeted killing on February 11. The Garda Ombudsman yesterday officially confirmed they have launched a probe following claims several gardaí had been made aware of a threat to the life of Patrick 'Pappy' Lyons - more than 24 hours before he was shot dead. It's understood the GSOC probe will also examine claims the three Ballymun-based-officers were initially involved in the murder investigation - but failed to disclose their knowledge of the threat to the investigation team until four days into the probe.
