Under a new expansion to the government’s Disregards and Pardons Scheme, women previously convicted of homosexual activity may now apply for a pardon.
Women in the UK, who were convicted or cautioned under any repealed or abolished offences relating to homosexuality, can now apply for a pardon. Earlier, the scheme only applied to gay men.
Previous schemes in England and Wales only applied to some offences linked to gay men.
