Over beaumont, texas. we ve been operating here over an hour and a half now. we are hovering over a neighborhood where part of the search and rescue effort, the military search and rescue has not only got the navy here, you ve got the u.s. coast guard, you ve got the army national guard, the air force is here. so, there is a lot of military action hovering over houston, this particular area. the crew [ inaudible ] so far. back in beaumont, a lot of areas inundated with water. there is a paramedic, they have a navy rescue swimmer. air traffic control going down, once he identified the neighborhood, then we move in. ....
The approach in to jacksonville with the various inlets if the storm surge were to hit eight to ten feet, because much of that city and the surrounding areas is below that in elevation. i m just kind of remembering back to hurricane katrina and what the national guard did there. they will be out in boats perhaps after that storm passes just seeing if everything s okay? absolutely. they will be part of the search and rescue team moving around in what we call idbs, little bitty boats, little skiffs and everything in between, working with local search and rescue. of course, they will bring in high clearance trucks and anywhere they can get in with those, those are very efficient at picking up people in subdivisions that might be flooded. i think the biggest threat will be in and around jacksonville. we are waiting for it. lieutenant general russel honore, thanks for being with ....
