Seven out of 10 constructions in urban centres through 2025 will be rental housing, according to the Association des professionnels de la construction et de l'habitation du Québec.
"There are people everywhere who are suffering," leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon said at the opening of the Parti Québécois's caucus. "I don't want to live in a Quebec where the unhoused is a reality everywhere."
In a speech to party supporters on Wednesday evening, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon also renewed promise to hold an independence referendum in the first mandate of a Parti Québécois government.
Support for the CAQ dropped 16 percentage points in 2023 while the rival Parti Québécois, written off by some as a spent political force, roared back to life.
The party isn’t set to fill the void until 2025. As the PQ surges, taking the long road might prove to be an error.
