Rabies: CIRAD and the Pasteur Institutes, a One Health alliance aiming for "Zero by 30"
In partnership with the Pasteur Network, CIRAD is implementing the One Health approach to fight rabies in Madagascar and Cambodia. Rabies is responsible for 60 000 human deaths worldwide each year, half of which are children under 15. Scientists, doctors and veterinarians are combining molecular, epidemiological, health and social studies in the hope of overcoming this largely forgotten tropical disease, which could easily be fought if more resources were devoted to it. To mark World Rabies Day, we take stock of the latest progress.
