Two Temple Daily Telegram columnists were honored Saturday by the Texas Managing Editors for their respective columns on Central Texas personalities, history and local sports.

BELTON — The Bell County Museum’s newest exhibit, “Bell County in Images: The Weldon Cannon and Patricia Benoit Collection,” opens to the public today, a news release said.

There were 16 small communities that lay where Belton Lake is now before the government constructed the man-made lake.

There’s always more to a story for Patricia Benoit. “The challenge of writing my (weekly “Backroads” column for the Telegram) is the research, but that’s where you get the depth and the real interest,” Benoit said. “It’s not just something you rip off of Wikipedia.
