By: John Holcomb The U.S. Olympic swim trials move into night three of Wave II Tuesday night and former Bishop Kelley star Patrick Callan will be in the pool. In the 200m freestyle, Callan needed to earn a top-four finish to make the finals for Team USA. Callan finished sixth, just fifteen-hundredths of a second out of fourth place, with a time of 1:46.49. This spring, Callan finished second in the 200 free in the Big Ten Championship, competing for Michigan. 2021 isn’t his first time at the trials. Callan first competed in the 2016 trials, one of the youngest swimmers in his event.

The fastest swimmers in the United States will be putting their hopes and dreams on the line at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials-Swimming, June 13-20, in Omaha.

Prof. Gabriel Bump’s “Everywhere You Don’t Belong” to be Adapted for TV Professor Gabriel Bump’s novel, Everywhere You Don’t Belong (Algonquin, 2020), is being adapted into a half-hour television series. Reminding us of this is Kilkenny man Patrick Callan, from Granges Road, who recently donated his 100th pint of blood! Patrick gave the gift of blood this Christmas when he made his donation in Kilkenny in early December. Just imagine how many people he has helped or even saved over his years giving blood donations.
