Fayetteville native to lead North Carolina Highway Patrol
A Cumberland County native has been named the next commander of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Gov. Roy Cooper announced Wednesday. Maj. Freddy L. Johnson Jr. was raised in Fayetteville and is a Fayetteville State University alumnus, the release said. After graduating at the top of his class in the Highway Patrol Basic School in 1996, Johnson began his career as a state trooper in Lumberton, according to the news release.
