Parks, Public Works projects get green light from City Council

The Kirksville City Council approved a number of items as part of Monday’s meeting. Most of those items were centered on ongoing projects with the Public Works and Parks and Recreation departments.
Here’s a rundown of what was approved at the meeting.
Tower Lease agreement
The council approved a tower lease agreement with US Cellular, the second of three planned agreements between the city and cell phone corporations. One with AT&T was approved earlier this year.
These companies have used the old water tower to deliver signals. Since that water tower will be deconstructed, they have moved to different spaces. US Cellular will join AT&T, and eventually Verizon, on the Mark Twain Communications tower. ....

Bird electric scooters are coming to Kirksville
Kirksville will soon get a fleet of electric scooters that residents can ride around town.
The City Council approved Monday an agreement with Bird Rides, allowing them to run their service in Kirksville. It isn’t a joint venture and the city isn’t being paid by the company. Rather, it is approving them to be a business here.
And either party the city or Bird can halt the agreement with 30 days’ notice. The e-scooters will be treated just the same as bicycles and can ride on those same spaces.
