The appoint was made April 16 by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds. Rouse replaces Patty Cownie, whose term expired April 30. “I was very honored that she (Governor Reynolds) would think that I would do a good job representing Iowans and being a good voice for the citizens of the region,” Greta said. The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, is a group of nine citizens who govern five public educational institutions in the state through policymaking, coordination, and oversight, as provided by law. The institutions include Iowa’s three public universities – the University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and the University of Northern Iowa; and two special preschool/K-12th grade schools – ....
Iowa Board of Regents President Michael Richards has been appointed for another six-year term. The Daily Iowan reports that Richards was appointed in 2016 to replace a regent who resigned before her term expired. He was elected Regents president in 2017, again in 2018 and last April. His term was set to expire at the end of this month. Regent Patty Cownie’s was not reappointed for another term. She’s being replaced by Greta Rouse of Emmetsburg, who previously worked as a deputy communications director and scheduler for former governor Terry Branstad. A University of Iowa student will be the new student regent. Abigail Crow of Tiffin co-chairs the Internal Affairs Committee at the school, and is replacing Iowa State University student representative Zack Leist. Leist was appointed in 2019. ....

Kim Reynolds on Friday announced a round of appointments to approximately 40 boards and commissions across Iowa, among them two new members to the Board of Regents Abigail Crow of Tiffin and Greta Crouse of Emmetsburg and the reappointment of Michael Richards of West Des Moines, the Daily Iowan reported. Rouse replaces Patty Cownie of Des Moines, currently president pro tem, whose term expires April 30. Richards, the board’s president, was appointed to another six-year term. Crow is the board’s new student representative. On other boards, two Des Moines residents, Tracy Ball and Jennifer Cooper, were named to the Iowa Finance Authority Board.
