The regularly scheduled deployment of the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group came just a few weeks after Russia invaded Ukraine.
The USS Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group deployed Wednesday from Norfolk, headed south to pick up Marines from the 22 Marine Expeditionary Unit before heading across the Atlantic.
“The Kearsarge is as ready as she’s ever been," said Capt. Tom Foster.
