Nobody seems to want to put american combat troops. if isis and iraq and syria is something more like a state, are we kidding ourselves? can this be done without a large infusion of american combat troops? michael liter? i think the answer is no. we may not need the same number when we needed when we first went into iraq, but we need more troops to push the iraqis faster, more than 50 special operations forces in syria to take the fight there, and we have to make clear that they don t stand a chance against us. and right now we are basically playing even, and that helps the movement beyond syria and iraq see that this is an attractive army to fight for in paris you said playing even. you mean that containment line that the president used. absolutely. we are not overwhelming them with force. andrea. congressman mccaul, ben rhodes said we are arming foreign fighters, talking i guess about the peshmerga, but the signature failure has been the failure to stand up to the syria ....

You were talking about, losing sinjar mountain a few days ago. the peshmerga is an extremely important advance for those fighting against isis. whether or not that changes the dynamic in the ongoing battle certainly remains to be seen. but there s in doubt even the course of the last 15 months that isis has had a strong hold, this has been the main concern of the western intelligence agencies. you ve had thousands travel to join the fight, they ve gotten battlefield experience, learned how to make explosives, learn how to fight. what is going to happen to these folks if in fact isis begin to break up, to start and these fighters melt away as we ve seen in the past. all right. thanks for joining us. that was really great. still ahead, what we ve learned so far about the paris attackers, some interesting details that s just ahead. 0 ....

Washington. the u.s. has been sharing targeting data with france. the white house also promised to intensify its own battle against isis. when does all this mean big picture as far as the u.s. is concerned? well, wolf, when president obama says he s going to intensify the campaign in syria, i think it means that it s going to be a stepping up of what they already did. you saw about a week or so ago president obama ordered about 50 special troops to special operations troops to syria to work with syrian kurds and other arab group as they launch their offensive on that isis stronghold in raqqa, and they re also working with the peshmerga. the u.s. was involved in sinjar mountain the other day with the liberation of that mountain. they re trying to choke off these isis supply routes and try and make a dent against the group. as jim said, you re also going to see i think an effort to deepen cooperation with vladimir putin. you know, isis moscow is ....
