A rare bottle of The Macallan whisky bottled in 1986 was sold at auction in London yesterday afternoon making it the most expensive.
Joe Tilson, who has died aged 95, was regarded as one of the leading pioneers of pop art in Britain in the 1960s. Spotted for the Marlborough Gallery in 1961 by John Kasmin, he was the first of a group of young art stars to launch the gallery into the Swinging Sixties with a highly successful first show in 1962.
If you’re known to appreciate the finer tipples in life, a bottle of the world’s “most sought-after Scotch whisky” went under the hammer for more than £2.1 million ($2.7 million) Saturday at Sotheby’s auction house in London.
