BARRIE – A tornado ripped through a southern Ontario city Thursday afternoon injuring a number of people and causing “catastrophic” damage, police said. Officers were going door to door to check on residents in a Barrie neighbourhood hit by the tornado, while paramedics provided first aid to those injured, said police spokesman Peter Leon.
