Share James Edward McGowan EAST HAVEN, Conn. – James Edward McGowan, 51, formerly of Portland, died peacefully, April 6, 2021, while accompanied by his fiancé, Nancy Lombardi, at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Conn. after a brief but exhausting battle with cancer. “Jimmy”, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was born and raised in Portland where he attended Portland schools and became a graduate of Job Corps in Bangor. He made a home in East Haven, Conn. where he resided with his fiancé, Nancy, and their dog, Layla. He was a leader in the environmental industry for over 30 years.
