The Samohi Vikings have turned into the most battle-hardened of November road warriors, with a CIF Southern Section Division 9 semifinal win
The 3rd-place finish for the Lady Vikings secured a spot in the CIF Southern Section finals, to be held on the same course Saturday at 8:45am
The Samohi Lady Vikings faced an unconventional inaugural 2023 flag football season, marked by uncertainty about the game rules and skepticism in the male-dominated sport. Despite lacking traditional measures for success, the team overcame challenges, gradually gaining momentum and ultimately securing an undefeated Ocean League championship with a 16-3 overall record, including a perfect 8-0 Ocean League record. The players and coaches navigated unfamiliar territory, defying expectations and achieving a remarkable outcome.
In what Samohi Cross-Country head coach Tania Fischer called "probably the hardest league" in CIF’s Southern Section, the girls’ varsity team clinched a spot in a postseason preliminary meet during the Bay League Finals Nov. 2. The Southern Section Preliminaries take place Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College, an arduous course the squad has taken on before.
Samohi's cross-country teams prepare for the upcoming season with high expectations, particularly for the girls' squad after their impressive achievements.
