It was day one of the 1993 Super Hoinke, a Thanksgiving weekend tournament that drew hundreds of the nationâs top amateursâteachers, accountants, and truck drivers who excelled at the art of scoring strikes. They came to the Super Hoinke (âHOING-keyâ) to vie for a $100,000 grand prize and bowling-world fame. Between games, many bowlers drifted to the alleyâs pro shop to soak in the wisdom of Maurice âMoâ Pinel, a star ball designer for the sporting-goods giant AMF. Pinel had come to Cincinnati to promote his latest creation, the Sumo. The bowling ball had launched the year before, backed by a TV commercial featuring a ginormous Japanese wrestler bellyflopping down a lane, with the tagline âFlat out, more power than youâve ever seen in a bo ....

Following my tradition, I m going to takesomeelementfrom The Empire Strikes Back. The great thing about using this movie is that it s so old more than 40 years that I don t have to worry about spoilers. I mean, if you haven t seen it by now, are you really going to watch it? So, here is the scene: Leia, Lando, and Chewbacca use the Millennium Falcon to escape from the Imperial forces on Bespin. On their way out, they grab Luke (he was literally just hanging around). I m all about Falcon and the Winter Soldier the latest Marvel show on Disney+. Don t worry, I m not going to spoil anything serious. I just want to talk about the wingsuits in episode 1. Sam Wilson (Falcon) is dealing with a hostage situation aboard a military aircraft. The bad guys grab their hostage and jump out of the plane wearing wingsuits. If you haven t seen these, they are basically skydiving outfits with extra material between the arms and legs to make it like wings thus the name. The hostage doesn t have a wingsuit, so they strap him on the back of one of the bad guy jumpers. After that, Falcon flies in pursuit and there is some action stuff see, no real spoilers. ....

Save for the Macarena, the most aggravating dance a human can perform is that thing where you’re walking down the street and have to out-maneuver a pedestrian who’s texting. At first, it seems like they’re going to crash into you. Then they finally look up from their phone, at which point you have to figure out who’s going to swerve left or right. You both swerve left and realize that won’t work, so you both swerve right, and that goes on and on until you finally get mad enough to yell at them. ....
