Salary raises took up most of the commissioners’ attention as they discussed developing the county’s 2022 budget. The board did not vote on any budget matters at the three-hour long meeting. Commissioners listened to budget requests from Mike Graner, administrator at Heart of America Correctional and Treatment Center, and Allen McKay, administrator at Lake Region District Health Unit. Pierce County Commissioners reviewed a budget submitted by Lake Region District Health Unit Administrator Allen McKay July 19 at a special session in the Pierce County Courthouse. McKay outlined the budget, which includes revenues from mill levies in Benson, Eddy, Pierce and Ramsey Counties. Pierce County’s levy in the 2022 budget amounted to $144,322 dollars. Other revenues from patient fees as well as contributions from state and federal programs amounted to $2,257,545 for the entire region. ....
