Transponder. transponder stays on the entire flight until you reach the gate at your destination and then you current transponder off. now, in 9/11 they turned the transponder off and of course it was harder to detect them. now, mary might know about this, but i thought that post-9/11 as a result of investigating those incidents that there was supposed to be a system that would leave the transponder on at all times and without the pilots being able to turn it off in flight. mary might be able to comment on that. i thought by now, 13 years later, that would have been part of the aviation system...
