  VANCOUVER -- An approaching winter storm could dump as much as 60 centimetres of snow on some parts of B.C. this week. Environment Canada has issued weather warnings for a large portion of B.C. ranging from Haida Gwaii to the Peace River region. The area expected to see the greatest impact is inland sections of the North Coast, which is forecast to receive 30 to 60 centimetres. There's a winter storm warning in effect for that region. A frontal system will stall over the region bringing periods of heavy snow tonight and Thursday. Snow will begin this evening and intensify overnight. Periods of heavy snow will continue through Thursday afternoon. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

CHETWYND, B.C. – Expect delays travelling through the Pine Pass on Monday due to avalanche control. Drivebc.ca says the highway will be closed for 30 to 45 minutes at a time while crews do controlled avalanche work for C.N. The work is planned for Highway 97 between Powder King Road and Old Hasler Road, approximately 1km north of the Pine Pass Summit. The work will happen between 10 a.m. pacific and 2 p.m. pacific.
